French president Emmanuel Macron and US president Joe Biden have united in their support for Ukraine and condemnation of Russia. During Biden’s visit to Paris, the leaders released a joint “roadmap” promising to use frozen Russian assets to aid Kyiv, despite concerns from some countries. Biden emphasized the importance of standing strong against Putin, as the threat extends beyond Ukraine to all of Europe. The alliance between the US, France, and Ukraine remains steadfast.
Meanwhile, casualties continue to mount in the ongoing conflict. Ukrainian strikes in Russian-held territories have left at least 28 dead, while Russian forces have fortified the Kerch Bridge in Crimea to defend against Ukrainian attacks. Ukrainian air defense successfully downed nine Russian drones, further escalating the tensions in the region.
In a separate incident, an assassination attempt on the ex-mayor of Kupiansk highlights the dangerous dynamics at play. Ukrainian officials believe the attack in the Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, is linked to the ex-mayor’s cooperation with Russian forces during the invasion and subsequent retreat.
