28 killed in attacks in Russian-occupied Ukraine

Russia-installed officials in Kherson and Luhansk reported Ukrainian attacks resulting in at least 28 deaths, with ongoing drone exchanges between the two countries overnight into Saturday.

In Kherson, a Ukrainian strike in Sadove led to 22 fatalities and 15 injuries. The Moscow-appointed governor accused Ukrainian forces of using French and U.S.-supplied weapons to deliberately target civilians.

Day of mourning was declared in Luhansk following a missile attack that claimed six lives and left 60 wounded, as reported by the region’s governor.

Both countries continued drone attacks, with Russia’s Defense Ministry stating that Ukrainian drones were shot down over several regions, while Ukrainian air defenses intercepted Russian drones over their territory.

In a separate development, Ukrainian forces claimed control over half of Vovchansk amidst ongoing conflicts in Kharkiv. The situation remains volatile, with Russia appearing to launch new offensives across various Ukrainian regions.

Additionally, there was an attempted assassination of the ex-mayor of Kupiansk, who was labeled a traitor by Ukrainian intelligence for collaborating with Russian forces.

This escalating conflict underscores the continued tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with civilian casualties and territorial disputes heightening the already volatile situation.
