Trump-appointed judge raises concerns over Facebook post hinting at mistrial – RT World News

Alleged Jury Misconduct May Impact Verdict in Ex-President’s Case

Judge Juan Merchan overseeing the New York criminal case involving ex-President Donald Trump has informed both defense and prosecution attorneys about a social media post that suggests potential jury misconduct, raising concerns about the validity of the verdict.

The post, attributed to Michael Anderson, claimed that Trump’s cousin, who was on the jury, revealed the impending conviction a day before it was announced, stating, “My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted. Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!”

While the authenticity of the post is in question, if proven true, it could lead to a mistrial based on jury misconduct. Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records after the jury deliberated from May 28 to May 30.

Conservative figures like podcast host Robby Starbuck and former federal prosecutor Joyce Alene have commented on the situation, with Alene highlighting the importance of maintaining a clear record to address potential issues on appeal.

This development has sparked debate and uncertainty about the fairness of the trial and the possible outcomes for the ex-president’s case.
