Indian President Draupadi Murmu has invited Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi to form the new government following his election as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Modi, in his acceptance speech, exhibited a combative stance towards the opposition, particularly targeting the Congress party.

Despite the BJP falling short of a majority in the Lok Sabha elections, winning 240 seats, Modi expressed confidence in his leadership. The new government, relying on the support of allies such as the Janata Dal (United) and the Telugu Desam Party, is now referred to as the ‘NDA government’.

Modi’s victory speech emphasized the continuity of the NDA government, highlighting the unity within the alliance. The BJP’s performance in Uttar Pradesh saw a significant setback, but the party remains optimistic about its prospects.

As Modi prepares to take the oath of office, the political landscape in India is poised for new developments, with speculations about alternative leadership options within the BJP stirring discussions.
