Armenia and the European Commission have signed a financing agreement titled “EU support for education in Armenia”, marking the EU’s commitment to provide budgetary support to Armenia through grants. The agreement, effective since September 12, 2023, aims to enhance the competitiveness of Armenia’s educational system in line with government reforms.
The European Commission has already disbursed 5 million euros in December 2023 and an additional 1.5 million euros in May 2024. This support will facilitate the establishment of modern STEM laboratories in 330 schools across Ararat, Kotayk, and Gegharkunik regions, along with teacher training initiatives.
Furthermore, the agreement includes plans to construct 13 educational complexes in the Syunik region, with construction already underway for some. In addition to infrastructure development, the program will focus on enhancing the national student learning assessment system and providing technical support to implement the Armenian education development plan until 2030.
