Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian president’s special envoy for Afghanistan affairs, emphasized the importance of holding the US accountable for its destabilizing efforts in Afghanistan at a recent press conference in Tehran. He highlighted the dire conditions that the people of Afghanistan are facing, attributing many of the challenges to the aftermath of the occupation.

Representatives from Iran, Russia, Pakistan, and China gathered at the Regional Contact Committee meeting to discuss the impact of terrorism in Afghanistan on the region. Despite the absence of Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban government, the participants recognized the need for continued support for the Afghan people.

Kazemi Qomi condemned the US for its destructive role in Afghanistan, calling for accountability for their actions even after the occupation. He expressed Iran’s commitment to future conferences aimed at promoting stability and security in Afghanistan, underscoring the ongoing importance of addressing the country’s challenges on a global scale.

As the international community grapples with the repercussions of past interventions, efforts to support Afghanistan’s path to recovery remain crucial in building a more secure and prosperous future for its people.
