Minister Giles signs new order to deport foreign criminals
Immigration Minister Andrew Giles has implemented a new direction to make it tougher for foreign-born criminals to stay in Australia.

Last year, Giles issued an order directing the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) to prioritize an individual’s connections to Australia when deciding on visa appeals.

Following this directive, the AAT reinstated visas for several criminals, leading to strong criticism from the opposition.

Giles emphasized that this new approach prioritizes community safety over an individual’s ties to Australia.

The revised direction underscores the protection of the Australian community as a top priority and highlights a zero-tolerance stance on family violence.

The new policy will take effect on June 21, with upcoming cases to be closely monitored by Giles in the interest of national security.
