Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has provided an additional 100 Saudi Riyals as “pocket money” to each of the state’s 1,868 Hajj pilgrims, following an initial grant of $186,800 to cover a shortfall in their Travel Basic Allowance. The announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Olanrewaju Layode, during a gathering at Alsaad Flower Hotel 2 in Makkah.
Sanwo-Olu’s gesture aims to ensure the comfort and welfare of the pilgrims during their stay in Muna and Arafah. The governor’s commitment to meeting all pledges, including covering costs for sacrificial rites and providing funds for essential garments, has been lauded by the pilgrims.
The Federal Government also subsidised this year’s Hajj pilgrimage with N90bn due to forex challenges. The pilgrims were urged to reciprocate the government’s kindness through prayers for the governor’s success and the overall development of Lagos State.
