Kanu’s lawyers demand release, submit 9 judgements to AGF – The Guardian Nigeria News

The legal team representing the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has called on President Bola Tinubu to authorize the release of their client from detention. They have submitted a list of nine judgments to the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) in Abuja, directing the release of Kanu.

Barrister Nnaemeka Ejiofor, leading Kanu’s legal team, emphasized that the judgements, from both domestic and international courts, support Kanu’s release. The team refuted the AGF’s claim of ignorance regarding Kanu’s case, urging President Tinubu to respect the court’s decisions.

Despite facing charges of terrorism, Kanu’s legal team has adamantly demanded unfettered access to their client, criticizing the Department of State Service (DSS) for hindering proper defense preparations. Kanu debunked reports of dictating trial conditions and his team threatened to withdraw from the trial if access is not granted.

The case continues to raise concerns over justice and due process, highlighting the need for fair treatment and adherence to legal proceedings in the Nigerian justice system.
