Accused double murderer Greg Lynn has taken the witness stand in his murder trial, describing a “horrendous” crime scene after a struggle over a shotgun that led to the deaths of two missing campers. The former airline pilot has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder over the deaths of Russell Hill, 74, and Carol Clay, 73, in Victoria’s Wonnangatta Valley in March 2020.
Speaking before a Supreme Court jury in Melbourne, Lynn maintained that he always told the truth to the police. Lynn’s wife Melanie, one of his sons, and the families of the deceased victims were present in court to hear his testimony. Lynn described a confrontation with Hill, claiming that a struggle over the gun resulted in the accidental gunshot that killed Clay.
He explained his version of events, including a detailed account of the struggle and his efforts to save himself after realizing both campers were dead. The jury was shown images of the burnt-out campsite and heard about Lynn’s actions to dispose of the bodies. The trial continues as Lynn defends his innocence in the tragic case.
