UNDP and AUA Host First National Dialogue on Tax Justice for SDGs in Armenia
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia, along with the American University of Armenia (AUA), organized the inaugural National Dialogue on Tax Justice, Improved Compliance, and a Renewed Social Contract for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event, part of UNDP’s Tax for SDGs initiative supported by Norway and Finland, aimed to promote discussions on fair and effective tax collection for sustainable development.
Key speakers, including Rustam Badasyan from the State Revenue Committee of Armenia and Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative, highlighted the significance of the tax system in achieving SDGs and building a fair taxation system. The dialogue emphasized the role of taxation in redistributing wealth, reducing poverty, and enhancing government accountability.
Discussions focused on policy and administrative reforms for sustainable growth, inclusive change, and social commitments. Panels moderated by Vache Gabrielyan and Suren Poghosyan featured experts from government, academia, and the private sector, exploring challenges in the tax landscape and strategies for enhancing tax compliance.
