In a momentous occasion, the Musandam governorate celebrated the commencement of a project to enhance the historic Telegraph Island (Jazirat Maqlab) in Khasab. The endeavor, a collaborative effort between the Musandam Governor’s Office, Musandam Municipality, OQ Company, and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, aims to create an eco-friendly tourism facility.
Under the patronage of Sayyid Ibrahim Said al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, the ceremony marked the beginning of constructing a multipurpose hall, a public service building, a sea landing platform, a mountain walkway, photography piers, a shaded area, a guard room, and utility buildings on the island.
With its rich historical significance as a key transmission station for the first modern telecommunication line in the Middle East, Telegraph Island holds a special place in the region.
