Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly asked ST Welfare Minister B Nagendra to resign amidst a multi-crore ‘scam’ scandal. The controversy emerged after a government official’s suicide note implicated senior officials, including a minister, in the diversion of Rs 90 crore from ST welfare funds to various bank accounts out of Rs 187 crore. The CBI has filed an FIR following a complaint by the Union Bank, prompting CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar to meet with Nagendra to discuss his resignation.
During the meeting, CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar assured Nagendra that he would be reinstated if his name was cleared of any wrongdoing. Nagendra is expected to announce his resignation soon, with the promise of a possible return to his position in the future. The unfolding situation has sent shockwaves across the political landscape in Karnataka.
