England, defending T20 champions, upset by Scotland after close call

In a thrilling T20 World Cup opener, Scotland’s openers George Munsey and Michael Jones impressed against England before rain interrupted the match at Barbados’ Kensington Oval. Scotland, aiming to replicate their 2018 one-day international win over England, reached 90-0 in 10 overs before rain delays led to a revised target for England. Both teams received a point as the match was abandoned due to rain.

In another match, the Netherlands defeated Nepal in Group D with Max O’Dowd’s unbeaten half-century leading the Dutch to a six-wicket victory. The Netherlands successfully chased the target of 107, with Bas de Leede hitting the winning runs. Logan van Beek starred with the ball, taking three wickets to restrict Nepal to 106 all out.

Despite the weather interruptions, teams showcased their talent in the T20 World Cup, setting the stage for a competitive tournament ahead. The Netherlands captain Scott Edwards praised his team’s performance and emphasized the need for consistency throughout the tournament.

Exciting matches and standout performances mark the beginning of the T20 World Cup, promising an action-packed tournament ahead.
