The Edo State All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party are embroiled in a dispute over the alleged hijack of the Continuous Voter Registration process. The exercise, which commenced on May 27 in Edo and Ondo states, was initially scheduled to end on June 5 but was extended by the Independent National Electoral Commission until June 9.

The APC Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadiae, voiced concerns about the registration process being dominated by the PDP, claiming that non-PDP members were facing obstacles in registering. On the other hand, the PDP Campaign Committee Media Deputy Director General, Olu Martin, dismissed the allegations as attempts to undermine the electoral institution.

The verbal sparring between the two parties highlights the contentious nature of voter registration in Edo State, with accusations of favoritism and manipulation marring the process. The integrity of the INEC and the overall democratic process are called into question amid these allegations and counter-allegations.
