A. Knox back in court in Italy for slander charge

Amanda Knox made a poignant return to an Italian courtroom after more than a decade, seeking to clear her name from a lingering slander charge tied to the notorious 2007 murder of her British roommate, Meredith Kercher, in Perugia. The case, which captured global attention, initially implicated Knox and her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito.

Now a 36-year-old mother of two, Knox aims to overturn a slander conviction for falsely accusing her ex-boss of Kercher’s murder. Her court appearance follows a European ruling that highlighted human rights violations during her interrogation, leading to a fresh trial based on newly discovered evidence.

Despite prior legal battles, Knox remains determined to prove her innocence, returning to the scene of her past legal struggles. Whether or not she succeeds this time, the possibility of further jail time is nonexistent, considering the years already served for the previous acquittal.
