Recently, during a press briefing, Matthew Miller responded to questions about ongoing communication between Iran and the United States, following Ali Bagheri Kani’s announcement. While not confirming Bagheri’s statement, Miller emphasized the US’s ability to send messages to Iran when in their interest.

Iran’s acting foreign minister also mentioned that negotiations with the US are still ongoing through Oman’s mediating role, despite the lack of diplomatic relations since 1979. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015 aimed to cancel sanctions on Iran, but after the US withdrew in 2018, Iran was forced to reduce its obligations under the deal due to imposed sanctions.

The Biden administration criticized previous actions but continued similar policies towards Iran. Despite challenges, negotiations between Iran and the US persist, showing hope for potential resolutions in the future.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation.
