Exciting News: Ongoing Strike Set to End Today as Labour Movement Agrees to Return to Negotiation Table

There are promising signs that the current strike will be called off today, Tuesday, as the organised labour movement has made the decision to resume negotiations. While the Federal Government has not budged on the N60,000 minimum wage, labour is determined to push for more as the tripartite committee reconvenes in Abuja.

The committee plans to meet continuously for one week in a focused effort to establish a new national wage floor that will satisfy both state governments and the organised private sector. The recent meeting, chaired by George Akume, saw the National Assembly intervening to facilitate a resolution.

Key figures including Minister of Information Nkeiruka Onyejeocha signed a communique pledging commitment to a national minimum wage higher than N60,000. Stay tuned for further updates as negotiations progress towards a mutually beneficial agreement!
