Iran’s Nuclear Chief: Commitments to JCPOA Reduced – Political News

In Shahrekord, Iran, Eslami criticized the US for withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal, hindering other countries from working with Iran. He emphasized that Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization follows the parliamentary law on “strategic action” to lift sanctions and protect national interests in regard to the JCPOA.

As per the parliamentary law, if other JCPOA parties don’t fulfill their commitments, Iran will reduce its own. Currently, Iran is in the process of reducing its commitments to the JCPOA.

Eslami highlighted the IAEA’s reports to the Board of Governors and the UNSC, certifying Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA. He stated that Iran’s nuclear activities comply with the Safeguards and the NPT under the strategic action.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani urged the IAEA to focus on its professional duties and avoid political matters concerning cooperation with Iran. He reiterated Iran’s adherence to the NPT and the Safeguards Agreement, mentioning that Iran has undergone numerous IAEA inspections since the JCPOA’s inception.
