Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has advised Muslims embarking on the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage to fully participate in the spiritual exercise and be good ambassadors of the state. He also subsidized the cost of the pilgrimage for the pilgrims in the state.
Addressing the pilgrims at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Fubara urged them to pray for a better Rivers State and Nigeria amidst the challenges facing the country. He emphasized the importance of being great ambassadors of the state while on the journey.
The Sole Administrator of Rivers State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abdulrazaq Deprieye, expressed gratitude for the governor’s support, noting that 47 pilgrims sponsored by the state government and a private pilgrim were ready for airlifting.
Before departing for the pilgrimage, Fubara visited the scene of an earlier accident involving a gas tanker. The governor commended the prompt response of the fire service in containing the situation.
Fubara’s gesture towards the pilgrims and his commitment to their welfare underscore his dedication to fostering development and growth in the state and the country.
