Israeli Authorities Turn Jerusalem into Military Zone
More than 3,000 Israeli policemen were deployed to occupied Jerusalem, with military checkpoints set up on main roads.
Israeli occupation authorities transformed Jerusalem and its Old City into a militarized zone in preparation for the provocative “flag march” organized by settler groups. The deployment of over 3,000 police officers and the establishment of military checkpoints aimed to secure the event. Major routes were closed, and police presence was reinforced, with government officials expected to participate in the march culminating at the al-Buraq Wall Square.
Extremist factions have called for a large-scale incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, raising concerns among Palestinian organizations. The Israeli Knesset will hold a session on “Israel’s Return to the Temple Mount,” sparking fears of imposing Biblical rituals at Al-Aqsa. The Islamic Christian Commission for Supporting Jerusalem urged Palestinians to defend the mosque from colonialist incursions. The situation remains tense as the occupation authorities push for provocative actions against the holy site.
