Lithuanian Economy and Innovation Minister Ausrine Armonaite signed an agreement with Rheinmetall, the German arms manufacturer, to build an ammunition plant in Lithuania. The investment for this project is over 180 million euros, creating 150 new jobs.

The new plant is crucial for meeting defense and security needs in Lithuania and Europe. The facility will produce tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition annually. The location of the plant will be announced soon, as the project moves forward with approval from the Lithuanian parliament.

Rheinmetall’s expansion includes plans for artillery plants in Germany and Ukraine, highlighting the growing demand for military production in the region. This partnership signifies a strategic move to bolster defense capabilities and support Ukraine’s artillery needs.
