The Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah has unleashed a series of “sophisticated” new technologies in the escalating clashes with Israel following Tel Aviv’s invasion of Rafah, a southern Gaza region.
“By employing a variety of weapons and tactics, many of which remain unutilized, Hezbollah ensures that its full capabilities and potential battlegrounds are unpredictable, giving them an edge in the conflict,” according to Dr. Imad Salamey, a political science professor.
Recent reports reveal that Hezbollah has intensified the use of armored drones and advanced weaponry against Israeli military installations, showcasing their military prowess against Israel’s superior forces.
“Hezbollah’s strategic approach aims to maintain an element of surprise and keep Israel in a constant state of recalibration,” noted Dr. Salamey, highlighting the group’s dynamic and adaptable tactics.
Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah has issued warnings of “new surprises” if Israel continues hostilities in Gaza. The group’s possession of long-range missiles and anti-aircraft projectiles signals their readiness for any escalation.
Israel’s ongoing operation in Rafah has led to significant casualties among Palestinians, resulting in widespread displacement and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Amidst these conflicts, Israel and Hamas engage in bumpy truce negotiations while Hezbollah ramps up pressure on Tel Aviv.
