IAEA Urges Iran to Resume Talks
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has called on the Iranian government to restart discussions with IAEA nuclear experts. Despite Iran’s decision to withdraw designations for experienced IAEA inspectors, Grossi welcomes Iran’s agreement to cooperate under the Joint Statement framework. He emphasized the need for serious engagement to address outstanding issues.
Grossi recalled his recent visits to Tehran and meetings with Iranian officials, including the late Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. He shared concrete proposals to enhance the implementation of the Joint Statement signed in March 2023.
Expressing readiness to continue dialogue with Iran’s new government, Grossi reiterated his commitment to ongoing technical exchanges. He highlighted the importance of pursuing collaborative efforts discussed during previous meetings in Tehran and Esfahan.
