President Zelensky of Ukraine Meets with Singaporean Counterpart

President Volodymyr Zelensky recently met with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference in Singapore. Zelensky expressed gratitude for Singapore’s clear stance on the war in Ukraine and discussed the potential for stronger bilateral relations.

Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s interest in elevating its relationship with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to a new level. This meeting took place ahead of the global peace summit in Switzerland, where Ukraine is set to present proposals for achieving lasting peace with Russia.

Zelensky also urged Asian leaders to participate in the upcoming summit, addressing key areas such as energy security, captives’ exchange, deported children’s return, and global food security. He highlighted Ukraine’s resilient economy despite the ongoing conflict and its potential for growth in the technology and innovation sector.

Ukraine hopes to garner support from global leaders, including Singapore, to facilitate constructive dialogue and pave the way for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
