Recent allegations suggest that Beijing is working on behalf of Moscow to sabotage Ukraine’s upcoming “peace summit,” according to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Zelensky accused China of influencing other nations to skip the Swiss-hosted summit and providing military support to Russia.
Zelensky made these claims during a press conference at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, criticizing Beijing for its alleged role in disrupting the peace negotiations. He also hinted at China providing military assistance to Russia, despite official denials.
However, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun reaffirmed China’s neutral stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the country’s commitment to peace and dialogue. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian initiative for a peace conference is scheduled for June 15-16 in Switzerland, with invitations extended to over 160 countries.
Amidst controversy, Moscow has been excluded from the summit, while Beijing has opted not to send a delegation, citing the need for both conflicting parties to participate in peace talks. The situation remains tense as the world watches for further developments.
