Mayor Karachi Urges Federal Government for Dedicated Budget Package
Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has called upon the federal government to allocate a separate budget package for Karachi in the upcoming Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the 2024 budget. He emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects in the city that have been delayed, including the Green Line project which has been incomplete for a decade.
Wahab highlighted Karachi’s significant contribution of 60 to 65 percent of federal revenue through its ports and urged for recognition of the city as the economic capital of Pakistan. He also addressed the issue of street crimes in Karachi, assuring that efforts are being made to enhance security measures.
Under the current government, practical steps are being taken to address the city’s challenges, moving away from the previous era marked by terrorism and crime. Mayor Wahab’s proactive approach aims to improve Karachi’s infrastructure and ensure a safer environment for its residents.
