Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the newly appointed United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, has arrived in Beirut to lead the United Nations Office of the Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL). Previously serving as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Iraq, Hennis-Plasschaert brings over 25 years of experience in diplomacy and international security. Having held notable positions in the Netherlands government and European Parliament, she is well-equipped to navigate the complex political landscape in Lebanon.
