North Korea Ceases Trash-Filled Balloon Campaign Against South Korea
North Korea has announced the end of its trash-filled balloon campaign aimed at South Korea, citing its success in countering propaganda leaflets from anti-regime activists. The balloons, filled with items such as cigarette butts and plastic, were floated across the border as a retaliatory measure.
Despite South Korea denouncing the balloons as “irrational” and “low class”, the campaign did not breach UN sanctions. The Seoul government warned of strong countermeasures if the provocations continued, highlighting concerns over the violation of the armistice agreement.
