Palestinian-American supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid have generously donated over $1 million to support Palestinian relief efforts. The sisters, whose father is Palestinian, allocated the funds to four humanitarian organizations aiding the people of Gaza, including Heal Palestine, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, World Central Kitchen, and Unrwa. These organizations provide crucial support such as food and medical programs, assistance to displaced persons, and psychological support.
Due to the devastating impact of Israeli attacks, with over 36,400 Palestinians killed, and much of the enclave’s infrastructure destroyed, the situation is dire. Over half of the population is at risk of famine, with confirmed deaths from malnutrition and dehydration. Israel is currently facing trial for genocide at the International Court of Justice.
‘Do not be desensitized’
Bella Hadid has raised awareness on social media, expressing her devastation at the lack of empathy towards Palestinians globally. She recently wore a keffiyeh dress in solidarity with Palestinians, urging people to educate themselves on the ongoing occupation and genocide in Gaza. Gigi Hadid also showed support for those affected by the recent tragedy and emphasized her empathy for the Palestinian struggle.
