China defense official says US aims to create Asia-Pacific NATO

In a recent statement at a security forum in Singapore, Chinese Lieutenant General Jing Jianfeng accused the United States of forming an Asia-Pacific version of NATO to maintain dominance in the region. He expressed concerns about US support for Taiwan independence and interference in the South China Sea, warning that PLA will not allow Taiwan to be separated from China.

Jianfeng emphasized that PLA will continue to enhance combat readiness and fight against any separatist movements, taking resolute actions to protect national sovereignty. He criticized US involvement in the South China Sea issue, accusing them of backing up the Philippines and interfering in China’s legitimate operations.

His remarks highlight the ongoing tensions in the region and China’s determination to safeguard its territorial integrity. The accusations against the US and the commitment to defending China’s interests underscore the complex dynamics at play in the Asia-Pacific region.
