China’s defense chief has issued a stark warning, cautioning that Taipei is being pulled into a perilous situation by separatist and external forces. Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue conference in Singapore, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun emphasized the importance of the One-China principle and denounced the Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan for erasing the Chinese identity of the island.
He criticized separatists for betraying the Chinese nation and their ancestors and accused external interfering forces of undermining the One-China principle by supplying weapons to Taiwan. Dong Jun vowed resolute actions to prevent Taiwan independence and maintain peaceful reunification with China.
Beijing considers Taiwan as part of its territory and has warned of using force if Taipei moves towards independence. The Chinese government has urged the US to respect the One-China policy and avoid official visits to Taiwan, with a stern warning of consequences for any contrary actions.
This escalating tension between China, Taiwan, and the US underscores the critical importance of diplomatic relations and peaceful resolutions in the region.
