Authorities in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, seized hybrid cannabis worth Rs 1.12 crore from courier packages in a recent joint operation by the police and Customs department.
The contraband was being transported by peddlers through couriers using the dark web and social media platforms, as per a release by the crime branch.
Following a tip-off, a joint team intercepted several parcels containing 3.75 kg of high-quality synthetic/hybrid cannabis valued at Rs 1.12 crore in international markets.
The crime branch has registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and noted that false addresses and numbers were used on the courier packages to evade detection.
