France prohibits Israeli companies from participating in defense fair

In a surprising move, French authorities have banned Israeli defense firms from exhibiting at an upcoming trade show near Paris. The decision, announced by organizers Coges Events, prohibits 74 Israeli firms from participating in the Eurosatory 2024 fair, with around 10 of them planning to showcase weapons.

While no official explanation was provided for this ban, it comes in the aftermath of international outrage over Israeli air raids on a camp for the displaced in the Gaza Strip. The bombings resulted in the deaths of at least 45 people and reignited tensions in the region.

Activist groups like ASER and Stop Arming Israel have warned against the fair potentially profiting from firms involved in these controversial actions. However, Coges Events clarified that the event is meant for the presentation of defense and security equipment, not for facilitating deals that could contribute to unethical activities.
