FIA calls PTI leaders over Imran’s ‘X misuse’ – Pakistan

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned PTI leaders Barrister Gohar, Omar Ayub, and party spokesperson Raoof Hasan over alleged misuse of Imran Khan’s official account to spread provocative content against state institutions. The controversy stemmed from a post shared from Imran’s account urging Pakistanis to study the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report, implicating former military dictator General Yahya Khan in the country’s breakup.

The post, which also criticized current civilian and military leadership, led to backlash and a formal investigation by the FIA’s Cyber Wing. The PTI initially distanced themselves from the post but later claimed ownership, calling for adherence to constitutional limits by the military. Imran Khan, currently imprisoned, declined to meet with FIA investigators without his lawyer present.

Notices have been issued to the PTI leaders, directing them to appear before the FIA to provide statements in their defense. Failure to comply may result in legal action. The FIA is investigating the incident as it is deemed to potentially incite offenses against the state or public tranquility.

This latest development highlights the ongoing tension between the PTI and government authorities, shedding light on the intersection of politics, social media, and legal implications within Pakistan’s political landscape.\
