Europe’s double-standards challenged by Iran, reserves right to reply: FM representative

The European Union’s recent decision to impose sanctions on key Iranian officials and institutions for alleged involvement in terrorism has sparked outrage from Iran. In response, Iranian official Kanaani expressed disappointment in the EU’s failure to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Palestine, instead choosing to target Iran.

Kanaani criticized the EU for prioritizing the interests of “the Zionist regime and the United States” over regional security and peace. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to upholding stability in the region and condemned the EU’s dual behavior.

The EU accused Iran of transferring drones to Russia and supporting armed groups, leading to the sanctioning of six individuals and three institutions, including the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters and the IRGC Navy. Notably, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, the Minister of Defense of Iran, was also targeted.

Overall, the Iranian government has vowed to respond to what they see as a destructive and unjust approach by the European Union. This latest development adds to the tensions between Iran and the EU, raising concerns about the future of diplomatic relations in the region.
