Biden’s deal brings hope to families of Israelis in Gaza

The families of Israeli captives held by Palestinian resistance fighters in Gaza are hopeful after President Joe Biden proposed a cease-fire, potentially leading to the release of their relatives. The families gathered in front of the Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv to express their optimism, urging Prime Minister Netanyahu to support the deal. They emphasized the importance of not allowing extremists to derail the potential agreement.

Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported on the families’ plea to members of the Knesset to approve the deal put forth by Biden, highlighting the urgency of the situation. While Netanyahu remains committed to achieving his war goals in Gaza, Hamas expressed openness to a proposal that includes a permanent cease-fire, reconstruction efforts, and a comprehensive hostage exchange.

The conflict, ongoing since last October, has resulted in devastating casualties and destruction in Gaza, with calls for Israel to end its blockade and be held accountable for alleged genocide. The families are now eagerly awaiting the outcome of the proposed cease-fire negotiations.
