ANC leads in Nelson Mandela Bay with 92% of votes counted

The ANC has taken the lead in Nelson Mandela Bay with close to a three-percentage-point advantage over the DA in the recent general elections. Both parties are still below the 40% mark, with the ANC holding 38.43% of the votes and the DA at 35.75% as of 3pm.

In the 2021 local government elections, the ANC and DA were equal at 39% each. However, the EFF and Patriotic Alliance have seen a surge in support compared to the previous elections. The EFF now sits at 11.17% and the PA at 6.63%, up from 6.64% and 1.37% respectively in 2021.

These results suggest a shifting political landscape in Nelson Mandela Bay, with smaller parties gaining ground. The outcome of the general elections will have a significant impact on the local government and the direction of politics in the region.
