Ali Larijani joins Iran Presidential Race – Politics update

The race for the 14th round of Iran’s presidential election has officially begun, with candidates registering at the Interior Ministry headquarters in Tehran. Among them is Ali Larijani, a seasoned politician who has held numerous high-ranking positions in the Iranian government.

Saeed Jalili, a former chief nuclear negotiator, has also thrown his hat into the ring to compete for the presidency. However, tragedy struck when a helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials crashed, leading to their untimely deaths.

Following the constitutional protocol, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber has assumed the role of acting president until a new leader is elected. The election campaign is scheduled from June 12-26, culminating in the nationwide election on June 28.

The forthcoming administration, the 14th since the Islamic Revolution, will take office in late June or early July and serve a four-year term. As the country prepares for this significant event, all eyes are on the candidates as they vie for the highest office in Iran.
