15-year-old and siblings allegedly detained in army raid

Following the recent attack on soldiers in Abia State and the subsequent detention of her siblings by the Nigerian Army, medical professional Rose Agwu took to Twitter to seek help in releasing her 15-year-old brother and sister who were taken without explanation or arrest warrants.

Agwu described how soldiers broke into her home in Aba, Abia state, while she was away, and allegedly abducted her siblings, causing trauma and fear for her family. Despite pleading for their safe return, her siblings had not been released at the time of her tweets.

With no connections to the recent attacks on soldiers, Agwu emphasized her family’s innocence and urged for justice and the safe return of her siblings. The incident shed light on the psychological impact on her young siblings and the unjust treatment they were facing at the hands of the army.

The unfolding situation in Abia State, with attacks on soldiers by gunmen enforcing a sit-at-home order declared by IPOB, has prompted fear and tension in the region. As videos of the attacks circulated on social media, the military vowed to retaliate while the state government offered a bounty for information on the attackers.
