Yemen air strikes by U.S. and UK kill 16, Houthi TV reports

Recent airstrikes by the U.S. and British forces in Yemen’s Hodeidah province have resulted in 16 people killed and 35 wounded, according to Houthi Al-Masirah television. The targeted areas include a radio building in Al-Hawk district and the port of Salif.

The strikes were launched as a response to the Houthi militant group’s disruption of shipping in the Red Sea. The U.S. Central Command confirmed hitting 13 targets in Houthi-controlled areas. The British defense ministry stated that the operation aimed at locations in Hodeidah, where drones and weapons were housed.

Despite these actions, the defense ministries emphasized minimizing risks to civilians and non-military infrastructure. Houthi spokesperson Mohamed Abdelsalam condemned the airstrikes as a “brutal aggression” against Yemen, linked to their support for Gaza.

The conflict escalated due to the Houthis’ attacks on international shipping in solidarity with Palestinians. The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas militants triggered retaliatory strikes, leading to further tensions in the region.
