UNRWA: Over 200 dead in Israeli Raids on Rafah

Yesterday, the United Nations (UN) issued a grim warning following Sunday’s Israeli airstrike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in Rafah, which resulted in at least 200 deaths. Juliette Touma, Director of Communications for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, emphasized the severe impact of the attack, adding to the widespread fear among the population.

Over a million people have fled Rafah since May 6th, with displacement ongoing. Only 200 aid trucks have been able to enter the area in the last three weeks, leaving immense unmet humanitarian needs. The Gaza Government Media Office reported that 45 people, mainly children and women, were killed, with 250 others injured in the attack near the UNRWA logistics base in Tal al-Sultan.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, requiring urgent humanitarian assistance. The international community must step up efforts to provide the necessary aid to alleviate the suffering of the affected population.
