Delivering Mail on the Front Line: Ukrposhta’s Heroic Efforts in Donetsk Region

Ukrposhta, Ukraine’s national postal operator, is going above and beyond to ensure that even the most remote and dangerous areas in the Donetsk region receive their mail. Employees are donning bulletproof vests, helmets, and using armored vehicles to reach settlements near the front line.

Maksym Sutkovsyi, director of Ukrposhta in Donetsk, emphasized the dedication of his team, stating that they deliver pensions and social payments as part of their duty, even in areas where banks have ceased operations. Among their fleet of mobile post offices, two armored vehicles stand ready to serve the public.

Despite facing challenges such as staff shortages and security concerns, Ukrposhta is determined to provide essential services to the region. Due to escalating conflict and safety issues, the decision was made to suspend services in certain settlements like Chasiv Yar and Siversk.

The Donetsk region remains a battleground, with civilians bearing the brunt of Russian shelling on a daily basis. With a frontline stretching 300 kilometers, nearly 472,000 people call this war-torn region home.

Ukrposhta’s unwavering commitment in the face of adversity is a testament to their resilience and determination to serve those in need, no matter the circumstances.
