Stoltenberg Urges NATO to Permit Ukraine to Use Supplied Weapons Against Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for alliance members to allow Ukraine to target Russian sites with the weapons they have provided, stating that as an attacked country, Ukraine has the right to defend itself under international law.

Stoltenberg emphasized the need to lift restrictions on weapons delivery to Ukraine, as the war has escalated near the border. He also proposed a financing mechanism for transparent and predictable assistance to Ukraine, sending a strong message to Moscow.

The NATO chief highlighted the importance of collective defense, especially in response to Russia’s aggression. He suggested increased investments in defense among alliance members to strengthen collective defense measures.

Stoltenberg also pointed out the role of partners from the Pacific region in the conflict, with China playing a crucial role in supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The NATO foreign ministers meeting in Prague aimed to align positions for the upcoming summit in Washington, focusing on urgent issues such as Ukraine and the need for coordinated assistance to the country.
