Qld premier calls for Townsville mayor to resign over voter deception

In a shocking interview on A Current Affair, Troy Thompson, the Mayor of Townsville, made startling revelations. He confessed to not completing his university degrees and claimed he had no recollection of facing criminal charges.

Newly-elected Townsville mayor Troy Thompson.

Troy Thompson’s honesty, or lack thereof, was criticized by Queensland Premier Steven Miles. Thompson admitted to not remembering his court appearance and being fined for fraud and forgery in 2008.

Thompson also falsely claimed extensive military service before the election, but records prove otherwise, leading to more doubts about his credibility.

Thompson conveniently blamed his memory for other discrepancies, like removing uncompleted degrees from his LinkedIn profile and falsely claiming to be a business graduate.

With mounting pressure for his resignation and ongoing investigations, Thompson’s political future remains uncertain.
