Israel has not responded to a French proposal aimed at easing tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border, according to French foreign ministry spokesperson Christophe Lemoine.

Daily cross-border exchanges between Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Israel have been ongoing since Hamas’ attack on southern Israel in October.

French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne presented an updated proposal to resolve the border conflict during his visits to Lebanon and Israel last month.

Despite a positive response from Lebanon, there has been no feedback from Israel so far, Lemoine mentioned.

The originally proposed solution involved Hezbollah moving 10 kilometers from the border, with Lebanon’s response being delivered to the French embassy in Beirut by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri earlier this month.

The updated proposal includes a roadmap for implementing Resolution 1701, with reports suggesting a shift in terminology from “withdrawal” to “redeployment” of Hezbollah forces beyond the Litani River.
