Russia May See Ukrainian Long-Range Attacks as ‘Precursor to Nuclear Strike’, Ex-DoD Analyst Fears

Sputnik International

The approval of American long-range strike systems by President Biden for Ukraine to launch attacks deep into Russia has escalated global tensions. Former US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Karen Kwiatkowski warns that this move could be perceived as a prelude to a nuclear conflict.

Kwiatkowski emphasized the dangers of using NATO weapons against Russia and how this could be seen as a first strike by Russia. The Wall Street Journal reported that Ukraine has been authorized to use various long-range weapons for strikes on Russian territory, escalating the conflict further.

In a risky move, other NATO members have also provided Ukraine with advanced missile systems, pushing the situation closer to a potential nuclear confrontation. Kwiatkowski believes the US administration is playing a dangerous game by expanding the conflict’s geography and risking nuclear war.

The lack of conventional capabilities in Europe to counter Russia adds to the threat of a nuclear conflict. Kwiatkowski highlighted the inconsistencies in US policy towards Ukraine and warned of the grave consequences of allowing such weapons’ use in the region.
