Drone strike in Krasnodar Krai causes port fire, casualties

A fire broke out at Port Kavkaz in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai overnight following a drone strike in the early hours of May 31, as reported by Crimean Wind. The fire originated at a fuel depot housing three petroleum tanks used to supply gas to Russian forces in occupied territories. Multiple casualties among depot employees were reported.

Explosions occurred around 2 a.m. local time, with no verified information on casualties available at present. The attack comes after Ukrainian drones targeted Russian patrol boats and damaged the Kerch ferry crossing in occupied Crimea the day before.

Authorities have not confirmed the responsible party for the Port Kavkaz fire, while Ukraine’s Armed Forces have not claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident adds tension to the geopolitical landscape in the region.
