Police catch 29000 suspects in crackdown on crime.

Over the past year, the Nigeria Police Force has made significant strides in combating crime across the country. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a total of 29,000 suspects have been arrested for various offences including kidnapping, rape, murder, gun-running, and cultism in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Among the arrests, 4,826 suspects were apprehended for armed robbery, 3,078 for kidnapping, and 2,479 for sexual offences. Additionally, 1,243 suspects were detained for unlawful possession of firearms, 3,523 for cultism, 3,381 for murder/homicide, and 13,402 for other crimes.

The police force also successfully rescued 1,750 kidnap victims and recovered a significant number of illegal items, including 2,566 firearms, 19,510 rounds of ammunition, and 1,475 vehicles/motorcycles.

Adejobi further stated that the NPF has prosecuted 29,152 criminal cases, with 17,679 cases already concluded and 11,576 cases currently ongoing. The force has also secured 16,200 convictions, ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.

This comprehensive crackdown on crime showcases the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.
