Gas supply returning to normal in Argentina
After a brief halt in the supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to petrol stations nationwide in Argentina, caused by the prioritization of gas for heating purposes due to cold weather, the situation is now improving as gas from Brazil’s Petrobras has started unloading from a ship. The supply cuts affected both drivers and industries alike.
The Energy Secretariat explained that the halt was due to technical issues in two gas plants in San Luis and Córdoba, as well as an administrative problem regarding payment to Petrobras for LNG. However, Petrobras has resolved the issue and is currently unloading LNG for energy supply replenishment.
Earlier concerns about prolonged gas shortages have been alleviated with the return to normal operations expected by the end of the day. Energy Secretary Eduardo Rodríguez Chirillo clarified the situation, stating that arrangements with Petrobras for assistance in August and September will address the reduction in gas volumes negotiated by the previous government.
